DISASSEMBLY

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION (2008 Sequoia) .

2. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR ROD (w/ Power Back Door)

(a) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, remove the 2 stop rings and power back door rod.

3. REMOVE BACK DOOR CENTER GARNISH

(a) Disengage the 4 clips and the claw and remove the back door center garnish.

4. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH

(a) Disengage the 2 clips and remove the back door side garnish RH.

5. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH

(a) Disengage the 3 clips and remove the back door side garnish LH

6. REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY LOWER BRACKET (w/ Power Back Door)

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and remove the back door stay lower bracket.

7. REMOVE BACK DOOR STRAP COVER

(a) Slide the back door strap cover and disengage the claw and remove the back door strap cover.

8. REMOVE BACK DOOR PULL STRAP

(a) Remove the bolt and remove the back door pull strap.

9. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD ASSEMBLY

(a) Disengage the 11 clips and remove the back door trim board assembly.

10. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS WEATHERSTRIP

(a) Raise the 9 claws of the rear back door glass weatherstrip and then remove the back door glass weatherstrip from the back door trim board assembly, as shown in the illustration.

11. REMOVE BACK DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER

(a) Remove the back door service hole cover.

NOTICE:

Remove any tape remaining on the door.

12. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR WARNING BUZZER (w/ Power Back Door) DOOR / HATCH: POWER BACK DOOR WARNING BUZZER: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

13. REMOVE MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU (w/ Power Back Door)

(a) Disconnect the 2 connectors and disengage the 2 clamps.

(b) Remove the 2 screws and remove the multiplex network body ECU.

14. REMOVE BACK DOOR NO. 2 SERVICE HOLE COVER

(a) Remove the 3 screws and disengage the 2 clips and remove the back door No. 2 service hole cover.

15. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR RH DOOR / HATCH: POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR (for RH Side): REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

16. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR SENSOR LH DOOR / HATCH: POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR (for LH Side): REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

17. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM HEAD CAP WIPER / WASHER: REAR WIPER MOTOR: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

18. REMOVE REAR WIPER BLADE ASSEMBLY WIPER / WASHER: REAR WIPER MOTOR: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

19. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY WIPER / WASHER: REAR WIPER MOTOR: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

20. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR GROMMET WIPER / WASHER: REAR WIPER MOTOR: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

21. REMOVE LINEAR WIPER STEP RH

(a) Disengage the claw and guide and remove the linear wiper step RH

22. REMOVE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING LH WINDOW / GLASS: BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW MOTOR: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

23. REMOVE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING RH WINDOW / GLASS: BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW MOTOR: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

24. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS OUTER WEATHERSTRIP ASSEMBLY EXTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: BACK DOOR BELT MOULDING: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

25. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS RUN

(a) Remove the back door glass run.

26. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS

(a) Remove the hole plig.

(b) Provisionally install the multiplex network body ECU.

(c) Move the back door glass until the 4 bolts can be seen through the service holes.

(d) Disconnect the 2 connectors.

(e) Remove the 4 bolts and remove the back door glass.

NOTICE:

Do not drop or damage the back door glass.

(f) Remove the multiplex network body ECU.

27. REMOVE BACK DOOR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the connector.

(b) Loosen nut A.

(c) Remove the 5 nuts, then remove the back door power window regulator assembly.

NOTICE:

Do not drop or damage the back door power window regulator assembly when removing the nuts.

28. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK CYLINDER

(a) Disconnect the connector

(b) Remove the 2 nuts and remove the back door lock cylinder.

29. REMOVE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE GARNISH EXTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: BACK DOOR OUTSIDE GARNISH: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

30. REMOVE REAR TELEVISION CAMERA ASSEMBLY PARK ASSIST / MONITORING: TELEVISION CAMERA: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

31. REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT ASSEMBLY EXTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: BACK DOOR OUTSIDE GARNISH: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

32. REMOVE BACK DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE DOOR / HATCH: BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

33. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK PROTECTOR

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and back door lock protector sub-assembly.

34. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK (w/o Power Back Door) DOOR LOCK: BACK DOOR LOCK: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

35. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK (w/ Power Back Door) DOOR LOCK: BACK DOOR LOCK: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

36. REMOVE REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH LIGHTING (EXT): REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

37. REMOVE REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH LIGHTING (EXT): REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

38. REMOVE REAR SPOILER COVER EXTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: REAR SPOILER: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+
